In today’s post we will learn about different types of numbers- whole numbers, natural numbers and integers .When we start learning mathematics in early years, we think that there are numbers only from 1 to 10. As we grow up and go to higher grades we start to learn that the range of numbers is much larger than we think and we learn that numbers go up to billions and trillions. This is not an over statement to say that there is no limit to numbers, but they can be classified into some categories, which are as follows-
- Natural numbers- When we start to count form 1 and go up, those numbers are called natural numbers. So , this means 1,2,3,4,5_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _(count as high as you can), are natural numbers.
- Whole Numbers– All the natural numbers and zero are called whole numbers. So, this means 0,1,2,3, _ _ _ _ _ _ (count as high as you can ) are whole numbers.
- Integers- All the negative numbers, zero and positive numbers are called integers. WE often use number line to represent integers, for example- ……………-10, -9,-8,-7, -6,-5,-4,-3,-2,-1, 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 ………………so on.
